Introducing David Fleming

I am a specialist employment barrister and an experienced mediator.

I have worked in community law, the Human Rights Commission, the Union movement and as a mediator, before moving into private practice. My path has always focused on dealing with people in conflict, rather than dealing with the law for law’s sake.

Whether representing large organisations, smaller businesses or individuals, my priority remains the same – achieving the best possible outcome for the client. I seek to resolve matters the best and most practical way for them, without increasing the conflict or stress in their lives, and without putting them to undue cost. I take a personal approach to providing high quality representation and effective advocacy.

I have extensive experience working with the education sector. I have advised school Boards of Trustees and tertiary institutions and have represented every kind of teacher, from ECE teachers to University lecturers.

I appear before professional disciplinary bodies including the Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal and Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, and am a Legal Aid provider for professional disciplinary proceedings.

I have conducted around 1500 mediations, and am available to provide workplace mediation, dispute resolution and investigations.
